Stronger communities

We recognise that in many communities people’s expectations are lower, opportunities are fewer, and services do not always meet local needs. Our focus is on protecting, enhancing, and joining up services to better meet community needs.

The Social Value Lab brings expertise in a number of areas.

Community engagement and community capacity building. Helping to put people at the centre of local decision-making and service delivery.

Neighbourhood renewal. Finding more effective ways to target the needs of our most deprived communities and deliver sustainable community regeneration.

Community assets. Working with communities to acquire, develop, and sustain important local assets (e.g. land, buildings, energy).

Employability. Finding new and creative ways to address worklessness and help people to find and sustain fulfilling work.

Community health and wellbeing. Working ‘upstream’ to help address the root causes of ill health and tackle health inequalities.

Children and family services. Helping to make improvements to childcare provision, youth services, and support for families.

Community planning. Ensuring that local activities and services are joined up, effective, and based on identified community priorities.

Community energy, climate change, and sustainability. Help to realise a green and sustainable future for our communities.

Culture, heritage, and sport. Finding new ways to support participation in a diverse cultural life, local heritage, and sporting activity.

Equalities. Addressing the inequalities that exist between the least advantaged groups and the rest of society.
