The challenges facing Scotland are obvious. Tackling youth unemployment, reducing reoffending, providing care for an aging population, and the list goes on.

The solutions are less forthcoming. Tight spending constraints are making it tough for public services to respond; at least on their own and in the way that they have in the past.

We believe that it’s time to inject some new thinking into the situation. That’s why we’ve teamed up with the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship and CEiS (Community Enterprise in Scotland) to establish Social Innovation Scotland; a not-for-profit centre to encourage, nurture and support social innovation.

With partners we are carrying out cutting-edge policy research, looking at deep-rooted challenges from new angles, bringing people together to learn and apply their expertise to the big issues of the day, and working towards a radical blueprint for public services in Scotland.
